THE PORCH

At the top of the entrance stairs, by the front door, the porch offers an airy, shaded place to sit throughout the day. With two small tables and chairs, it is a pleasant corner for breakfast, coffee, tea, or a quiet activity like reading or playing cards. A glimpse of the garden and occasional soft breeze make it one of the most comfortable spots in summer. A quiet pause before entering the house, and often the last stop before heading out.

A vintage cabinet holds a guest book and a small display with photographs of the villa’s original owner and his wife, offering a quiet link to the house’s history. This is the heart of the home, where every room connects and time moves just a little slower.

Book Your Stay

Meet the House and your host Nina

Vintage Villa Magnolia is a heritage family home with original features, a large garden, and several shaded places to sit and unwind. Built in 1913 for Commander Julius Riedlein of the Imperial and Royal Austro-Hungarian Navy (K.u.K. Fregattenkapitän), the villa stands in Pula’s historic Veruda district, once home to officers and dignitaries. Although the area has changed over time, its peaceful character remains, with mature trees, quiet gardens and a gentle rhythm to daily life.

The property is surrounded by cypress trees, bay leaf hedges and Mediterranean plants, creating a soft microclimate that keeps the garden cooler in summer and filled with natural scent. The villa has been lovingly looked after, preserving its original charm and calm presence.

Nina, the host, has lived here since childhood. She is a qualified therapist and yoga instructor with many years of experience, and takes care to keep the atmosphere of the house balanced, thoughtful and welcoming. She is nearby when needed, and happy to assist, guide or simply let the quiet speak for itself. Nina speaks seven languages fluently, including Greek, English, French, Italian, Slovenian, Serbian and Croatian.
